Foraging and the Trout Lily

Early April, I walked the winding path from the barn to the garden
with my friend Jeannie who had just taken the Vermont Master Naturalist
course in Washington County—and was soooooo excited
to traverse the forest and discover.
Canada May Flower, Starflower, and Trout Lily.
Along the roadside, Coltsfoot, Heartleaf Foamflower, Smooth Solomon’s Seal.
And the Woodland Forget-me-Not.

Benefits for muscle tension, wounds, abscesses, mycro-bacterial infections. Fever, fainting, ulcers, tumers, and swollen glands.

Although you can harvest the corm, I only harvested the leaves and ate them in very small portions as they can cause nausea. Good vitamin-filled salad green.
