Tea Medicine — Lemonbalm, Caledula and Rose
Such a simple way to support our wellbeing: tea drinking the herbs :) I love this tea-brewing glass cup because it allows me to see and relate to each herb gathered up—and understand a bit about how the qualities are “with me.” In 2014, I attended my first official herb program. Since that time, I’ve attended three. From the first time I walked through the fields with Sandra Lorey of Mandala Botanicals; sought to understand the clinical magesties with Guido Masé or danced through the pages of “How to Walk Like a Gardener” by Deb Soule, I knew I’d been swept off my feet into a magical land and magical spaces from which I would never return. And I keep dancing with the plants.
The lemonbalm is my joyful peace keeper: she’s with me to balance my energy with joy and equanimous heart and mind (Temperance, Strength…). She’s a part of the mint family, so, like tulsi, helps reduce stress. Calendula is a personal hero: when I first harvested, I was surprised by the sticky nature…which correlates with her would-healing and skin care abilities. Calendula provides antioxidants, which my primary reason for adding it to this tea. And rose … or rose. One of my VERY favorites. Also known as Queen of Flowers and Witch’s Briar, rose is bitter, sweet and astringent; is a source of vitamins and folic acid, calcium, potassium, iron, saponins and more. Rose heightens spark and desire; helps us fall in love and can help us get calm and/or sleepy. For me, it is uplifting, soothing and nourishing. I feel LOVE … and full and peaceful. Rose clearly raises the spirit — and is known to promote clarity of mind.
Enjoy the herbs: they are our allies.
With love, Bean
